The Modern Church

It seems to me, that if we are going to make any inroads into atheism… we, the Church, must open a dialog with unbelievers.

In particularly, the science community.

Do I believe they are mutually exclusive? Not at all.

I believe that all of our founding philosophers, astronomers, and scientists found inspiration from the Truth that is contained in the Bible.

For instance, Isaiah 40:22 makes claim to the Earth being circular. Or what we know as a sphere. Most likely, there was NOT a word to describe 3 dimensional except through mathematical analysis, something that was invented by the ancient Greeks, with the word from Ancient Greek σφαῖρα (sphaîra) ‘globe, ball’) is a geometrical object that is a three-dimensional analogue to a two-dimensional circle.

The Truth is, Bible author Isaiah was first in recognizing the world as a “sphere”, something they did not have a word for in the Hebrew language. It couldn’t be reliably translated; however Job goes on to say that the Earth is “suspended” in space-something incredibly insightful.

Job 26:7 “He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing.”

Shouldn’t we analyze the Bible for clues to the mysteries of the Earth, after all, it was the learned person that read and wrote in ancient times. Someone that could ascertain facts from oral tradition. That’s why we have tradition at all. Because over time, our generations recognize patterns. Is the Earth flat? For all intent purposes, it is. Anyone who ventured out into the deep seas most likely never came back. It wasn’t until 15th Century that the

  • 1492 – Voyage of Christopher Columbus took place.

This is the famous year in which the explorer Christopher Columbus set out on his historic voyage across the Atlantic, with the aim of circumnavigating Earth and reaching China and India. Instead, as we all know, he discovered North and South America.
